Theta waves

These waves, on the other hand, are characteristic of a relaxed mind. Such waves are much slower in frequency and higher in amplitude than when compared to beta waves. A person who is awake, yet mentally absent, may show theta wave dominance. Such brain activity would be expected in a person that is daydreaming or conducting a task on ‘mental autopilot’.

To summarize: an ADHD patient typically exhibits a low amount of beta waves and a high amount of theta waves, leading to behavior that is associated with ADHD.
